Taylor Swift just broke the record for most views for a Music Video
Look What You Made Her Do. As well as topping the charts in over 35 countries, Taylor Swift’s new song ‘Look What You Made Me Do‘ (which revives Peaches Mean Girls’ track and samples Right Said Fred), has now broken the record for the most music video views in 24 hours.
Swift has received over 42 Million views of the video in less than 24 hours, and that adds up to a pile of records the track is breaking – including the lyric video receiving 19 million views in 24 hours, which is over double the second most popular lyric video up until that point which was 9 million for Something Just Like This by the Chainsmokerz and Coldplay.
That means the video bested the previous record holder, Adele’s Hello, by over 12 Million. Playing dirty pays well for the new Serpent Queen.
Taylor appears to be bucking the trend of declining download sales of tracks (thanks to the advent of Streaming services) with an estimated 500k+ week of sales in line for the song and broke the record for first-day streams of the song with over 8 million globally. It also rocketed to the top of the radio charts within hours of release; though Variety is reporting that country radio has finally fully shuttered Swift out after years of her moving away from the genre that made her a star.
